THE town of Oromocto is the location of one of Canada’s largest military training bases. The surrounding countryside is flat, partially wooded and partially farmed. A major shopping center with grocery stores, a liquor store, banks, and a restaurant is located right on the bank of the river next to the long floats of the Oromocto Boat Club, making this one of the most convenient ports for provisioning covered in this guide.

Approaches. The Oromocto Boat Club is located in the Oromocto River near its mouth. Pass under the bridge (65-foot clearance) at Burton, and proceed upriver south of Oromocto Island. A green-red-green bifurcation buoy marks shoals at the eastern end of Thatch Island. Keep it well to starboard and turn southward into the Oromocto River. The long club floats will be obvious along the left bank.
