SANDY Goat Island lies in the center of Grand Lake at the north end, marked by a flashing light and ringed by sandy beaches. This is a popular daystop for picnics and sunbathing. The beach is steep enough on the north side that deep-draft boats can approach it from the north, drop a stern anchor, and nose the bow onto the beach.

Note the unmarked, isolated boulder to the southwest of Goat Island. More rocks lie on the unmarked bar extending from the mainland toward Goat Island. While it is possible to pass between them in about 7 feet of water, it is not recommended for strangers. Instead, stay outside green lighted buoy “E75” off the east end of Goat.
