HOLE-IN-THE-WALL is just thata slot not much wider than a couple of boat widths that cuts through Lower Musquash Island to Musquash Lake. Several boats can squeeze in here and tie to the trees along the banks in the kind of serene and peaceful setting that is unique to the Saint John River. Current of a knot or so runs out the creek, and it is reported at times to be buggy. Protection is good, though not as good from the south as the chart might indicate. The wind is only broken by a couple of stands of deciduous trees along the banks of that part of Lower Musquash.

Approaches. Approaching from the river channel east of Long Island, find green spar D1 at the junction of Washademoak Creek and keep it to starboard. Once Lower Musquash Island is abeam to starboard, look for a small treed islet against the islands shore. Head in to Hole-in-the-Wall upriver of the islet, favoring the Lower Musquash Island shore and crossing a shoal area about 9 feet deep. Depth increases beyond the island.
