THE bight behind Ghost Island on the east side of Belleisle Bay is less appealing than its name. The anchorage is exposed, and several cottages with swimming floats dominate the mainland shore.

A vertical, head-shaped rock stands on the southwest shore of Ghost Island, presumably giving the island its name. In case you can’t pick out the face, somebody has painted eyes and a mouth on the rock, looking northeast down the length of the bay.

Anchorages, Moorings. Anchor anywhere behind Ghost Island. The water is shallower to the west of the island and deeper to the north.
