AT the southern end of Long Reach, about a mile above Gregorys Point, the Saint John River is constricted between Purdys and Belyeas Point, each marked by a flashing light.

The current increases here, particularly on the Belyeas Point side, so this area is prone to chop from opposing southerly winds.

Pleasant anchorages can be found on either side of either point, providing good protection in most winds.

Approaches. The river is broad and free of obstructions on both sides of the points.

Anchorages, Moorings. The anchorage upriver from Purdys Point will provide the best protection from southerly winds. The point is low and sandy, but it quickly rises to a bluff of pines.
PLEASE RESPECT AND SUPPORT THE WORK THAT HAS
Work your way in to a comfortable depth. Holding ground is good in sand and mud. From here you can watch the passing river traffic and the setting sun.
