MATHER ISLAND is almost a miniature replica of splendid Long Island, lying off Long’s northeastern end and practically connected by a rock breakwater. The bight formed by the west side of Mather Island and the breakwater makes a nice anchorage with a backdrop of Mather’s long sand and Long’s wooded slopes.
