CHANCE HARBOUR lies to the west of Dipper Harbour. Since it has no breakwater, it does not offer as much protection. The harbor is exposed to the east and southeast, and in the winter of 1999/2000 a storm destroyed half the government wharf. In fair summer weather, though, the bluffs on Lighthouse Point shelter the small bight to the north, and there is good anchorage off the wharf. The dramatic red cliffs of Cranberry Head flank the east shore.

Approaches. The mouth of the harbor is marked with red-and-white bell “KS.” Run toward the lighthouse on Lighthouse Point but be sure to leave to port can “KS1,” which marks the ledges making out from the point. A weir makes out from the north shore of Lighthouse Point. Round the point broadly and turn westward into the anchorage.
