BLISS HARBOUR is a wide, open body of water formed by Frye Island to the north and west and by the Bliss Islands to the south. The chart shows an anchorage in Bliss Harbour, but this would be a naked spot to lie in anything but the fairest weather, even if you could find room among the fish pens.

The Bliss Islands make a good daystop, though, particularly when coming from the east, for exploring and for waiting for favorable tides for nearby Letete Passage. The Bliss Islands form an amphitheater around a small but wide cove, known as Fisherman Cove, which offers good protection from the prevailing southwesterlies. Several cottages lie along this cove, and a fish-farming operation somewhat limits anchoring. The approach is easiest from the south, leaving cans SA1 and SA3 to port and rounding to starboard into the cove.
