THE westerly bight of Prospect Harbor is easy to enter and provides reasonably good protection in summer weather, although it is exposed to the south and southeast. A dozen lobsterboats moor in the inner harbor. There are no facilities for visitors.

The harbor is dominated by the Stinson Canning factory, on the west side, and there are houses and a road all around the head of the cove. The radio antenna on Cranberry Point and the white dome on Prospect Harbor Point further detract from the scenery.

Approaches. Gong “3” and green daybeacon “5” are both left to port. The lighthouse (photo) on Prospect Harbor Point marks the eastern shore.

Anchorages, Moorings. Anchor past the cannery, outside the moored boats, in 14 to 18 feet at low. The mud bottom holds well.
