SOMES is a tiny cove on the west side of Mount Desert Island, opposite the southern tip of Bartlett Island. Anchorage and protection are good.

Approaches. There are two islets at the southern corner of the entrance, the outer one low and rocky, the inner one bushy. Enter north of the islets, down the middle of the cove.

Anchorages, Moorings. Anchor just west of a line between the dock on the north shore and the dock on the south shore, in 12 to 20 feet at low. The only exposure is to the north. The bottom is mud and grass, with good holding.
