GREAT COVE is on the eastern side of Bartlett Island halfway through Bartlett Narrows. It’s a good anchorage and easy to enter, with views of the hills across the way on Mount Desert.

Approaches. From the south, avoid the fish pens that may be moored off The Bartlett Island Farm and run up the middle of the wide cove. If you are coming from the north, be sure to stay well clear of the ledges off—what else?—Ledges Point before making your turn into the cove.

Anchorages, Moorings. Anchor wherever you find swinging room in 15 to 20 feet at low. Holding ground is excellent, in mud, and exposure is only to the south and southeast.
