SEA KAYAKING along the Maine coast involves launching, landing, interactions with native wildlife and flora, and, sometimes camping. All these activities impact the environment. Kayaking itself is a double-edged sword. While few modes of transportation impact the environment less, the very affordability and popularity of sea kayaks are bringing more people to fragile coastal environments and impacting them more.
