Seguin island is indeed a very nice island to visit. We went there on our grady white from south portland (that boat replaced the whaler i have mentioned elswhere in the forum, and we also have a sabre sailboat). The island is very beautiful with nice trails, great views, a nice little museum and gift shop, and climbing the lighthouse tower is the best part.
The caretakers are extremely friendly and they gave us so much info. They did their job so well it seemed as though they would talk to us all day if we stayed. They took us up in the tower and even out to two little catwalks that circled around the very top of the tower. They told us all about the tower, the house the fog horn, lots about the history, what its like to live there etc.
By the way i think that you can use the coast guard moorings. Last year when cruising the coast on our sabre we called the coast guard and asked if we could use their moorings at seguin. I'm fairly sure they said that technicly your not allowed to use them, but really you can and the coast guard wont really mind. Besides every time we go there we see people on them.
Well i hope you visit Seguin sometime, if you havn't already. It will certainly be an island you wont soon forget.
