Last year was my first experience with a Garmin 3006 chartplotter and a radar overlay. The flexability of the system is great. Most often I use the overlay but it also has the option of displaying the chart w or w/o the overlay and a radar screen side by side. That is most useful when things get a little cluttered on the screen when there are a lot of other boats in the vacinity. It really spoils you.
