I received the following notice of an opportunity from someone who, for now, would like to remain annonymous. If you have interest, please contact me, and I will relay it.

Curtis,

I am aware of an opportunity on an island, in Maine. I have tried for some years to get my friends and acquaintances interested, and maybe it's time to cast a wider net. (I have no financial interest.)

This island, with one house, is in need of a permanent "tenant" or "caretaker". The ownership situation is complex, and it is unlikely that the property will ever be available for purchase, but a long term lease might be possible. An occupant will have to deal with bureaucracies, historic and scenic restrictions, and some (minimal) public use of parts of the island.

While it may be possible to take possession without writing a large check, the property is in need of significant renovation and restoration - perhaps $1 Million, if contractors were hired; or several years of part-time work for a talented and resourceful do-it-yourselfer.

If you:
- Currently live in the New England area
- Earn (or reasonably expect) income enough to allow you to afford a second home
- Are willing to make a long-term commitment, to spend almost every weekend and vacation working on the island, with the possibility of penalties if you decide to back out
- Have significant experience in small boats
- Possess construction / trade skills, in effect capable of building a house, by yourself (or with your spouse/friends)
- Don't mind mosquitoes
- Are between 20 and 40 years old
- Have zero expectations of relaxing in a hammock, sipping Margaritas, or using a flush toilet!

Then I may be able to provide you with extensive information, contacts, advice, logistical and construction support.

Please contact me if you think this opportunity is for you. DON'T bother me unless you meet ALL of the qualifications I have listed (OK, maybe the age range is flexible, but you get the idea. )

Looking forward to hearing from the right person.
