Be famous!
I'm trying to put together a gallery of photos for this website of as many lobsterboats and their crews from Maine as possible. If you and your boat would like to be included, e-mail digital pics to mail@coastguides.com or send real pics to Diamond Pass Publishing, 19 Brook Lane, Peaks Island, ME 04108.
Let me know any or all of the following:
the boat's name
the make and year
power type
owner
crew
homeport
fishery
best daily catch or any other great story
Thanks, Curtis

The Maine Department of Marine Resources has adopted new rules for the scallop industry. The minimum shell size has been increased from 3 1/4 inches to 3 1/2 inches in diameter, changed the gear specifications to allow for lighter small drags, required that all undersized scallops be culled out of a catch before any shucking is done, and limit the size of drags in extreme southern Maine to a 5 1/2-foot maximum.
Scallop landings:
1981, record high of 3.8 million pounds valued at $15.2 million.
2001, 212,758 pounds for a value of $1.1 million.
2002, not yet compiled.
