Curtis:
I was just going through the posts and noticed that I did not answer your question regarding whether or not the mushroom anchor that tangled in my screws off the Tenants Harbor Common Pier was still there or not. It is not. It was placed on my swim platform and then was deposited in deep water to insure that will not happen again (at least with THAT anchor). All it cost me was two new screws, drydocking and shaft allignment..really cheap for a lesson?
Second, I was checking on updates to the Guide and I see you are using the fifth edition. The book store where I purchased your guide apparently sold me an old edition they must have had laying around since I looked and discovered it was an earlier version.
How many changes have you made? Is it realistically worth the cost of the updated fifth version simply to get those updates since most of the material I have used so far remains correct?
And, the comments note a large problem with snug safe moorings. I have and my neighbors have usually open moorings close to Port Clyde that could be made available for free simply by calling in advance to be certain they are open. We are located just north of the ocean demarkation line on the St George River, just south of Turkey Cove and across the river from Point Pleasant in Cushing. My phone number is 207-372-6129. Do not attempt to go very far into Turkey Cove to try to anchor. It is VERY shallow and full of large hidden rocks covered at other than low tide.
Will this rain ever stop???
