Maptech Chart Kit warning

Robert Sussna writes:
I bought the Chartbook for Penobscot Bay with the charts and CD. Portions of many of the pages of charts were printed too heavily, so that most of the smaller islands could not be read, and the soundings are very dark. The heavy shorelines obliterated the island detail so you could not read the other information. This was true for most of the pages, so I sent it back for exchange, and the exchange copy was the same. I spoke to Maptech, who confirmed this was true of all the copies in their warehouse, so back it went also. So, be warned that this Chart Kit is essentially of no use. They said that it is likely to be revised and reprinted, as it is one of the older revisions. I have their Chartbook for the Chesapeake, which is graphically excellent and very clearly printed.

Thank you for this warning about the Chart Kit. I'm guessing this was a one-time problem with that particular edition of that chart book. I wonder, though, whether the same pages are used in the bigger Block Island to the Canadian Border, or whether that chart book would be error free. I will try to check this the next time I can look at one.
