Hi,
I need some help. I'm wondering where to go to get a permit to camp on Richmond Island. If you have any information on this I would really appreciate it. Thanks and take care.

Hi Eric,
Richmond Island http://coastguides.com/r1/1.21Richmond.html is private, owned, I believe, by the Sprague family. I am not sure whether they allow camping on the island or not, nor do I know exactly who you would contact to ask. They do have a caretaker on the island in the summer, and visitors are allowed ashore to explore.
The Maine Island Trail Association might have better answers to this question than I. Their website is http://www.mita.org and their phone number is 207-761-8225. Another possibility is to contact Phineas Sprague, who owns Portland Yacht Services, and ask who you should contact. PYS is 207-774-1067. I would appreciate knowing what you find out.

Hi Eric,
I was on this site looking for information about camping on Richmond island and saw your question posted. Were you ever able to find out how you get permission to camp on the island? We are hopeing to do it this summer. Any information that you found out that you might be able to pass along would be greatly appreciated.
